Impact Initiatives began life as Brighton and Hove Church and Community Development Project in October 1978. This organisation brought together four groups that were providing a range of community-based services at the time: the churches, the voluntary organisations, Sussex and Brighton universities and Brighton Borough Council.
The group’s original vision was to: 'bridge the gap'. That is, to ensure that excluded communities and individuals across Sussex had access to services and support.
One of the first services the new organisation opened was First Base Day Centre, subsequently transferred to Brighton Housing Trust, which still supports homeless people today.
In 1980 the Project changed its name to PACT (People and Churches Together) and this was adapted to PACT Community Projects in 1993.
There was a major review of the organisation in 2002, which resulted in its current name, Impact Initiatives. The organisation has been modernised and is now moving forward with new energy, building on its strong track record of developing innovative and high quality services.
We currently run services across Sussex.
