Female Support Worker  (Ref: ST/SW)

Salary: £19623 pro rata

Location: Stopover Supported Housing Services

Hours per week: 24

The Role: Stopover Supported Housing Services

Main tasks include:

Working as part of a team providing tailored support to young women with support needs.

Ensure young women accommodated understand and abide by the terms and conditions of occupancy agreement.

To be part of a rota, providing regular sleep-in cover and on-call duties.

To work in a key worker role with identified young women, to meet them reguarly, to work with them in drawing up a support plan and to monitor and review the plan regularly in line with Stopover policy.

To provide a bespoke package to each individual young woman including referral to external specialist services where appropriate.

To monitor income benefits, ensuring that benefits are maximised and remain in payment.

To provide information and support relating to personal and emotional matters within the context of individual and group work with young women.

To co-faciliate the life skills course.

To support volunteers in the delivery of a social programme within the projects including planning and supervision of volunteers as appropriate.

To assist young women in identifying and acquiring appropriate move-on accommodation.

To keep accurate records and maintain effective communication on all aspects of work by using Stopovers systems for record keeping, monitoring and communicating with colleagues.

To operate within the projects clear framework of confidentiality at all times.

To participate in regular residents house meetings.

To work within the project and organisational policies and procedures.

To attend regular supervision sessions and team meetings, including annual Impact Day.

To attend training and undertake any other duties, as appropriate to character of this work and as requested by management, as reasonably required.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (1974) and the successful applicant will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Scheme check. The Sex Discrimination Act 1975 Part 2, 7(2)(E) applies.
 

Project: Stopover Supported Housing Services

Stopover proivides a unique, women only supported housing project in Brighton and Hove. Accommodation is provided at two schemes.

Stopover One provides supported accommodation for eight homeless or insecurely housed young women between the ages of sixteen and twenty-five. The young women may stay for anything up to two years during which time they are encouraged to develop the skills and confidence they will need to live independently and sustain a tenancy. The young women are expected to live within the rules of the project, attend key work and complete the in-house life skills training. The project offers intensive support and is staffed for twenty-four hours. Support workers work as part of a rota system.

Stopover Two provides supported accommodation for nine young women between the ages of eighteen and twenty-five who have previously completed a successful stay in Band 2 accommodation project. Young women accommodated here will be expected to have completed a recognised life skills course and will be meaningfully occupied. The project offers low to medium support and is staffed during office hours.

Centre and Service Development Coordinator  (Ref: DING/CC)

Salary: £19623 to £21520 pro rata

Location: Dingemans Centre for Older People, Steyning

Hours per week: 15 per week on Tuesday and Wednesday

Closing date: Friday, 7th June, 2013


The Role: Dingemans Centre for Older People

We are looking for a Centre and Service Development Coordinator to lead the day to day running of Dingemans Centre and Cafe.

Main tasks include:

Lead the team of staff and volunteers to provide a range of activities and services for people aged 55+.

Maintain financial and admin systems including petty cash.

Line manage and support staff and volunteers including supervision and appraisals.

Ensure adequate staff and volunteer cover of all aspects of the services.

Assist in the initial meeting with potential centre users and assess them if the services will meet their needs.

Ensure a range of activities ar provided that services users will enjoy and benefit from participating in, including the production of the monthly activity calender and its distribution to all service users, staff and volunteers.

Attend staff meetings to support and share information with other staff.

You should have experience of working with older people and an understanding of the needs of those aged 55+.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (1974) and the successful applicant will be subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Services Check.
