Volunteer to make a difference

We rely on our fantastic team of 120 volunteers. Without them we wouldn’t be able to provide a fraction of the services we do now. We have a wide variety of volunteering opportunities.

Can I volunteer?

No matter your age or skills, if you’re keen to make things better for people in Sussex, we’d love to have you as part of our team.

Our youngest volunteer is currently 25 and the oldest is 88. We will need to get a criminal records bureau check before you start with us though.

What support will I get?

You’ll get full training for your role and we’ll provide you with on-going training. You’ll also have the support of members of our 100-strong team of permanent staff. And you’ll get all out-of-pocket expenses reimbursed.

How do I sign-up to volunteer?

Take a look through the list of volunteer opportunities below. Contact details are given for each opportunity.

What volunteering opportunities do you have?

Because of our range of services, we have an equally wide range of volunteering opportunities. There are many different things you could do:

  • Visit older people at home who find it difficult to get out and about
  • Assist on minibus trips, both to and from our day centres and on outings
  • Help with computer drop-in sessions
  • Work in our cafés

These are some of the things you could do:

  • Help someone to access services
  • Support a person in a meeting
  • Research a person's rights or choices
  • Make information more accessible (using tapes, symbols, pictures, makaton, etc)
