Every year Impact's Workability service in West Sussex helps hundreds of people to access work, education or training who:

  • Are recovering from drug or alcohol addiction
  • Have a physical or sensory impairment
  • Have an acquired brain injury

Helping them to access work, education or training.

Our local and skilled employment specialists and Advisors, provide individual support which helps people to match their skills and abilities to suitable jobs, courses and training. We work with people at a pace that is comfortable for them.

Impact Workability also works with other health professionals to improve people's experience of needing employment support whilst using primary mental health services.

Employers too, can work with Impact Workability to develop and sustain working relationships with their employees.

Advocacy

Impact Advocacy worker with her advocacy partner

Advocacy is about helping a person to be heard. There are many people in our community who are ignored because they have difficulty in gaining the attention that is needed to make sure their views and opinions are listened to and wishes acted upon.

Impact's Advocacy services help:

  • Adults with learning difficulties
  • Adults with a physical and/or sensory impairment
  • Adults with an acquired brain injury
  • Parents with learning difficulties going through childcare proceedings

Operating across West Sussex the service is independent, confidential and free. Our experienced staff and volunteers provide one-to-one support and are dedicated to listening to and finding out what people need, so as to help them gain greater independence and control of their lives.

Advocates can help people with a range of issues including housing, family and social relationships, money, making complaints, access to health and social care services, funding issues and work.

Impact's Advocacy services support three Self Advocacy groups:

  • Bognor and Chichester VOICE
  • Worthing Speakout
  • Mid Sussex SpeakUp

These self advocacy groups are independent groups run by people with learning difficulties for people with learning difficulties who help each other to speak up.

Impact are also providing a pilot advocacy service within the Horsham area to assist vulnerable adults through a safeguarding investigation

“My advocate listened to me and helped me to find a perfect home with great services “
