Our History

Impact Initiatives has been working with local people and communities in Sussex for over 30 years.

The charity began life as Brighton and Hove Church and Community Development Project in October 1978. This Project brought together many different people and organisations from across the community who were providing a range of community-based services. In 1980 the Project changed its name to PACT, which stood for People and Churches Together and this was then adapted in 1993 to PACT Community Projects.

There was a major review of the organisation in 2002, which resulted in a new name, Impact Initiatives, and a new vision for the future. The organisation has been modernised and is now moving forward with new energy, building on its strong track record of developing innovative and high quality services.

Bridge the Gap

"In 1978 IMPACT’s original vision was to: 'Bridge the Gap'. That is to provide services for hard to reach, excluded communities and individuals across Sussex, to ensure access to services and support where there is clearly identified need. We continue to maintain this vision and I am continually inspired to see the range and quality of our services, the dedication of our staff and volunteers and the number of people we are able to help"
